Landmark Presentation of Diritto Ambientale: Shaping the Future of Environmental Law

  • 17 November 2024

On November 14, the fourth edition of Diritto ambientale. Profili internazionali, europei e comparati, edited by Sergio Marchisio, Giovanni Cordini, and Paolo Fois, was unveiled at the Sala Conferenze Stampa of Palazzo Montecitorio in Rome. The event gathered experts, scholars, and policymakers to discuss the growing significance of environmental law.

This updated edition retains its core structure—examining environmental law from international, European and comparative perspectives—while incorporating critical updates to address emerging challenges in this dynamic field.

Key Insights from the Event
Moderated by Prof. Vincenzo Pepe, the event celebrated the authors’ contributions to environmental legal studies, with opening remarks from Hon. Gianpiero Zinzi, Sen. Manfredi Potenti, and Prof. Gianfranco Tamburelli. They emphasized the book’s value as both a scientific and practical tool for shaping policy and education.

Highlights included presentations by:
• Prof. Raffaele Cadin, on behalf of Prof. Sergio Marchisio, on the evolution of international environmental law, focusing on global institutions, human rights and the principle of non-regression.
• Prof. Paolo Fois, on European regulatory advancements, especially the European Green Deal.
• Prof. Giovanni Cordini, on comparative law’s role in tackling global environmental challenges and shaping public policy.

A Comprehensive Legal Resource
Praised as more than a manual, the fourth edition of Diritto Ambientale was described as a thorough and innovative treatise addressing the complexities of modern environmental law. It solidifies its status as an essential resource for scholars and policymakers, reaffirming the editors’ commitment to advancing legal studies in this critical area.
