We are pleased to announce the publication of the 2024 Yearbook of the International Law Association – Italian Branch.
The International Law Association (ILA), founded in 1873, operates through a network of regional branches across the world. Each branch actively contributes to the ILA’s mission to study, clarify and develop international law, both public and private, and to promote international understanding and respect for the rule of law.
A central part of the ILA’s activity is carried out through its Committees and Study Groups, which focus on specific legal themes. These bodies bring together international experts to conduct research, draft reports, and elaborate recommendations that are presented at the ILA’s biennial conferences. Italian scholars and practitioners regularly contribute to this global effort through active participation in several Committees.
Among the featured reports in this Yearbook is the seventh report, authored by Professors Sergio Marchisio and Marco Pedrazzi, on behalf of the ILA Committee on Space Law.
The ILA Space Law Committee has played a pivotal role in the development and promotion of international legal principles governing outer space activities. Composed of leading experts, it has contributed to advancing dialogue on key issues such as the legal aspects of the privatisation and commercialisation of space activities, space debris and dispute settlement related to space activities. Its work has informed both legal scholarship and international policy discussions, reinforcing the ILA’s broader mission of fostering the progressive development of international law.
The publication of the 2024 Yearbook highlights the dynamic intellectual engagement of the Italian Branch within the broader ILA framework and reflects the growing importance of space law in the global legal landscape.
