The Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition  was established in 1992 by the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) and consists of two phases: 1) the Regional Rounds (Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America); 2) the Final Round, which takes place during the International Astronautical Congress organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF). The ECSL is in charge of the European Rounds of the Moot Court. The winners of the Regional Rounds compete in the World Final, judged by three current judges of the International Court of Justice.

The Italian NPOC has organized two editions of the European Rounds of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition:

Rome, May 2013 – in collaboration with ECSL, Sapienza University of Rome and ISGI-CNR. Several teams from Italian universities have participated in the competition over the years.
